Visit the Colorado Ski and Snowboard Museum
The Colorado Ski and Snowboard Museum has some great exhibits showcasing the sport of skiing and its history here in Colorado, with artifacts from the ski troopers of the U.S. Army's 10th Mountain Division of the U.S. Army being the major showpiece. The museum is known for its Friday talks featuring still living veterans of the 10th Mountain Division. The 10th Mountain Division trained at nearby Camp Hale before taking to mountains of Italy and fighting bravely in battles at Mt. Belvedere and Riva Ridge. As you exit n Bridge Street, check out the statue of the ski trooper near the Covered Bridge and Gore Creek. The statue serves as a reminder to all who pass that Vail Mountain was founded by veterans of World War II, Pete Seibert and Earl Eaton. Seibert was himself a ski trooper.

Kids can make their own pizza at Blue Moose
Blue Moose pizza in Vail lets kids make their own pizzas on select occasions throughout the year. The experience is unforgettable for kids as the Blue Moose staff takes them through the toss and sauce. Meanwhile Mom and Dad can enjoy a little quiet time inside the spacious dining room at Blue Moose, with craft beers from local breweries available as well as artisan pizzas and salads.

Tour the pocket parks
Located at the base of Gondola One, Pirate Ship Park is a place your kids won't forget with its large bow, stern and crow's nest playground, but it's the town's newest park, Sunbird in Lionshead, that's getting all the attention. Recently Sunbird Park was named one of the World’s Coolest Playgrounds by TravelandLeisure.com. Sunbird Park was completed in December of 2013 and includes an interactive water feature, a climbing wall and artistic play structures. Vail's art in public places program helped spur the park to life, and says it used nest-like features to draw from Vail’s sense of place as a world-class ski destination as well as the surrounding natural habitats. Connecting the nests are custom-made ropes and bridges as well as slides, ladders and other climbers.

Visit Adventure Ridge
Atop the Eagle Bahn gondola on Vail Mountain, Adventure Ridge is a center for kids activities other than skiing. Activities include snowmobiling, ziplining, tubing, bungee trampolines and ropes courses, depending on the season. It's also a great place to depart on a hike or a snowshoe, depending on the season. But one activity that doesn't depend on the season is biking -- Adventure Ridge serves as starting or meeting point for a mountain bike ride, and also offers organized ski biking in the winter.
