Vail Mountain has added a few new hiking trails to the mountain which are perfect for kids.
At 13, Indonesian jazz piano prodigy Joey Alexander has already played at prestigious festivals, clubs and venues all over the world, including last year’s TED Conference. His first album (released when he was 11!) scored Grammy nominations in 2015 for Best Jazz Instrumental Album and Best Improvised Jazz Solo.
Vail has seen its fair share of powder over the last week, measuring in at 27 inches over the course of 7 days. The video team at the mountain put this video together, published Friday, March 18, showcasing the large amounts of snow the resort's legendary back bowls.

The 34th annual US Open Snowboarding Championships announce a stellar field of riders slated to compete in the longest-running snowboard competition in the world fromFebruary 29th – March 5th at Vail Mountain Resort. Confirmed top riders include two-time Olympic gold medalist Shaun White (USA) competing in both halfpipe and slopestyle, 2016 X Games gold medalists Chloe Kim (USA), Spencer O’Brien (CAN) and Matt Ladley (USA). Eight-time US Open winner Kelly Clark (USA) and Taku Hiraoka (JPN) will be returning to defend their 2015 US Open halfpipe titles, along with Jamie Anderson (USA) and Yuki Kadono (JPN), both defending their 2015 Burton US Open slopestyle titles.
Shaun White says, “I'm excited to be competing - the Open has always been one of my favorite events since I was a kid.”
Now in its 34th year, the legendary Burton US Open is the original competitive snowboard event featuring the most progressive riding of the season. As always spectators are invited to come watch all the exciting competitions for FREE.
“The US Open has always been the event I look forward to in the season,” says longtime US Open halfpipe competitor and two-time X Games gold medalist Danny Davis. “It’s a special one to me, it was the first professional contest I ever did as a kid, and in many ways helped launch my career. I’m always excited to go.” He adds, “It’s the season ender and a really fun one for music and seeing all of our friends. I would love to take home a US Open title!”
Like so many others, Paralympian Ralph Green moved to Vail to pursue his passion for skiing. But Ralph Green's story is unlike many others in a lot of ways. After catching a stray bullet in Brooklyn, New York, as a kid, Green's life took a dramatically different turn.

On Dec. 16, 2011, Corporal Daniel Riley, USMC, stepped on a land mine which forever changed his life. But losing both his legs didn't stop his adventuring spirit, and today he lives near Vail and rarely misses a powder day. I was riding Chair 5 in the back bowls of Vail over Martin Luther King weekend, when I started chatting with a couple of teenagers from Toronto who were visiting Vail. I noticed the multiple GoPro cameras and it was quite apparent that these young men knew what they were talking about. Well, we sure you've heard of the great conditions in Vail this winter.
